Meet the Owners:

Bob Kennedy has been in the running and walking specialty business since 2000 when he founded BlueMile in Indianapolis and is recognized nationally as an expert in the field. Kennedy is a former two time Olympic runner, 20 time Big Ten Champion and 4 time NCAA Champion while at Indiana University, and held the 5,000m American Record for more than 13 years. His desire to help customers with whatever their needs might be, whether they are a first time walker or jogger or a long time marathoner has lead to his success in business.

Justin Porter has been in the retail industry since 2002. He discovered his passion for retail while working in the footwear department at Galyans during his college years. In 2004, he teamed up with Bob Kennedy and Gareth Wilford at Bluemile, and that team is now part of Athletic Annex. Justin can usually be found in the back of the store, handling orders and attending to various tasks. If he's not there, he's likely at a youth sports event with his boys or coaching a team.

Gareth Wilford  moved to Indianapolis in 2000 by way of South Africa, where he grew up, and Williamsburg Kentucky where he studied Kinesiology and Business at Cumberland College. In 2001 he joined BlueMile and subsequently Athletic Annex in 2014. Whereas you might find him moving between the stores on a daily basis, it's on the weekends, coaching and handing out water and high fives on the Monon Trail to participants in our Spring and Fall Training Programs that you might see him the most.

Bob Weddle is a founding owner of The Athletic Annex.  Bob has been running since the late 70’s and has completed numerous marathons, ultra marathons and other races.  His involvement in the running community through Indy Runners (past president), race director and service on numerous running and fitness related boards and committees over the last several decades is hard to match.  Bob is certified by the Road Runners Club of America as a running coach and by the American Fitness Professionals and Associates as a personal trainer. Bob retired as a Partner in the law firm of Bose, McKinney and Evans, LLP in late 2013. His passion is fitness and along with his coaching of runners and walkers, works on developing general fitness programs for customers and others seeking to improve their fitness.
